Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Hotel Resort And Casino Review For 2024

Mandalay Bay Casino Resort

Mandalay Bay is a 4 1/2 Star Rated Las Vegas Hotel and Casino: Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino anchors the southern most end of Las Vegas Blvd, The Strip. The 3,309 room hotel was completed in 1999 and opened with James Belushi, John Goodman and Dan Akroyd riding though the front doors on Harley-Davidsons to the cheers and thrill of thousands of onlookers ready to be the "first" to play at this $950,000,000 resort and casino.

It wasn't an easy task to go from imploding the Hacienda in 1996 to opening Mandalay Bay. Earlier the tower core was found to be sinking at a rate of almost 3/4" a week but the wings were not. They finally solved the problem by drilling down 200 feet and installing hydraulic jacks that keep it all on the level now and construction resumed.

Probably the most striking feature of this property is Mandalay Beach - an 11 acre pool complex with three heated pools, one of which stays open during the winter months. There is a wave pool that connects to a pool for small children and a feature called Lazy River that has a waterfall. There are over a million and a half gallons of water in the wave pool and waves are generated about every minute and a half. The crest anywhere from 2 - 4' from the still surface. Youngsters and others under 48" tall are not allowed in the wave pool.

There are two restaurants at the Beach and Topless is allowed at the Moorea area which has its own bar. Moorea is sectioned off from the rest of the pool by a smoky glass divider. Minimum age to enter Moorea is 21.

There are 24 restaurants and cafe's at Mandalay Bay, many of them in the Mandalay Mall which is a covered area connecting Mandalay Bay with one of its sister properties, Luxor Las Vegas - the black glass pyramid where Cris Angel performs his mind freak show.

Mandalay Bay boasts a roster of nine of the top chefs to be found in Las Vegas including Wolfgang Puck, Sean DiCicco, and Mary Sue Milliken. The fine dining opportunities are almost endless between the choice from among 12 Signature Restaurants and the unlimited imaginations of the artists who put their names on them.

For an out of this world experience steeped in romance and intrigue be sure to check out Red Square. Here you will find one of the world's greatest selections of caviar - they even have a cavi-hour if you like to sample that sort of fare. Many would say that the most titillating selections come fro the minds of the chefs and you wouldn't find this cuisine anywhere else on earth. Siberian Nachos, Roquefort Filet Mignon, Strozapretti Stroganoff, and Salmon Kulebyaka will have your palate dancing Tanets s Medvedem and the posh red velvet, accents gilded in gold and private vodka vault featuring over 200 varieties will sear the memory in to be told a hundred times to unbelieving friends.

For nightlife Mandalay Bay is one of the hottest places in town and a good place to see your favorite celebrity. Mix Lounge has mind blowing cocktails and one of a kind bar menu and every night spent there is an event. You can sit out on the 64th floor balcony and enjoy bottle service or get your funk on inside with DJ Frankie 808 or DJ Myk.

The Foundation Room is a very exclusive club - the high end of House of Blues. It is usually used for private functions but guests of the hotel are welcome and the clubbing public is allowed in on Monday nights. You may have to ask your concierge for directions to the private elevator but if you make it to the 43rd floor you will be glad you spent those winnings at the Mandalay Mall because casual dress will not get you in regardless of your status at other clubs in Las Vegas.

House of Blues is a famous music venue now with a location at Mandalay Bay. It is an intimate venue where you are up close and personal with some of the biggest names in rock. B.B. King and Bob Dylan have played at Mandalay Bay and the roster of lesser known, underground favorites is immense. House of Blues is one of those experiences you don't want to have to shake your head and look down at your shoes when your co workers at the water cooler ask if you went.

Casino And Sportsbook

The casino at Mandalay is over 135,000 square feet and spreads out like a small city. The slots are anecdotally tighter here than across the mall at Luxor but the table games are almost always hotter - gamblers at Mandalay Bay just seem to have more fun. Check out our online casino sites for promotions and bonuses available for online play.

The Sports Book at Mandalay Bay is arguably the best in Las Vegas. VIP treatment is the standard. All major sporting events and horse racing are available year around on a giant HD screen, 17 large screen TVs and over 100 individual race seats with personal monitors. Unfortunately they don't offer an online sportsbook quite yet as of 2017.
